The Wayne City water department will be temporarily changing the process by which we disinfect your water. We will be switching from a chloramine (chlorine and ammonia) disinfectant to a free chlorine (just chlorine). By doing this we are better able to insure that our water quality will remain stable and bacteria free. During this process you might notice a stronger smell of chlorine in your tap water, but will remain safe to drink. Village employees will be periodically flushing hydrants during this process to help change out the water from our mains. You might notice some discoloration and or pressure fluctuations during this process. Be sure to check before washing laundry.
This process is expected to take approximately 1 month, then we will be switching back to our normal disinfection process.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by way of village hall.
Kris Shreve, Water Superintendent
